Today, Poland has:
- approximately 180,000 lifts in operation,
- around 8,000 new lift installations annually,
- more than 30,000 lifts requiring modernization,
- one of the most active construction markets in Central Europe.
Warsaw alone represents approximately 30% of the Polish elevator market and is among the leading European cities in high-rise construction. The city is home to Varso Tower, the tallest building in the European Union, and dozens of major residential, office and mixed-use developments are currently under construction or in the planning phase.
The largest vertical transportation project in Poland
Poland is currently conducting the largest vertical transportation tender in its history as part of the Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) airport project.
The project includes the supply, installation and maintenance of more than 500 lifts, escalators and moving walkways serving the airport terminal, railway stations, intermodal transport hub, air traffic control tower and other facilities.

Conference 22 October — digitisation and cybersecurity

Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly present in the lift industry — and with it come new legal, organisational and cybersecurity obligations.
On 27 July 2026 Poland published the Act on Artificial Intelligence Systems, establishing the national institutional and procedural framework for the implementation and supervision of AI-related regulations. The main provisions of the Act will enter into force on 11 August 2026. At the same time, Poland will begin establishing the structures responsible for overseeing this area, including the Commission for the Development and Safety of Artificial Intelligence (KRIBSI).
Key dates
- by 28 September 2026 The Ministry of Digital Affairs is expected to establish an organisational unit supporting the Commission and its Chair
- by 11 October 2026 Appointment of the Chair of KRIBSI
- 28 October 2026 Entry into force of provisions on, among other matters, individual opinions, inspections, administrative proceedings and penalties
- by 11 November 2026 First meeting of the Commission
Why this matters for the lift industry
Modern lifts and vertical transportation systems are becoming increasingly advanced digital devices. Remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, data analytics, diagnostics, communication systems, integration with building automation and solutions based on artificial intelligence algorithms are becoming part of everyday practice. At the same time, the importance of cybersecurity, data protection and responsibility for the operation of intelligent systems continues to grow.
This is why one of the conferences accompanying LiftExpo Poland — International Lift, Components and Vertical Transportation Technology Exhibition 2026 — is dedicated to these issues.
The programme will address new legal requirements, cybersecurity of lift systems and components, obligations arising from NIS2 and the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), and the ways in which artificial intelligence and digitalisation may transform the design, operation, maintenance and servicing of lifts in the coming years.
We invite lift manufacturers, installers, maintenance companies, designers, IT and cybersecurity experts, representatives of public administration, investors, and everyone interested in the digital future of the lift and vertical transportation industry.
